Hanns Bergs, LeadSquady and AdSquady

Founder & Director, BrandSquad; Secretariat Communications Council (Qld); Manager AdSchool (Qld); Lecturer.

With over 25 years experience nationally and internationally, Hanns has worked both sides of the marketing & advertising fence. His strengths lie in marketing and advertising communications strategy; client services; project management and professional training and development. Tenures include 6+ years with major multinational agency Ogilvy & Mather Jhb - creative flagship of 240 offices internationally and International Agency of the Year 1994; 11 years with KWP Advertising and 3+ years with MasterCard Standard Bank [Southern Africa] as Corporate Cards Marketing Manager.

In a rapidly changing marketing world, Hanns recognised Marketers were increasingly wanting extensive yet consolidated all round marketing expertise and advice, but without the shackles and commitments of Agency-type contracts or relationships. And so the co-operative BrandSquad concept was born.

He's also Secretariat for The Communication Council [QLD] and Manager of the Council's professional training & development arm AdSchool [Qld]. Offering some 24 courses and workshops compiled and updated by leading and practicing industry experts, he's fortunate to be continuously at the evolving coalface of industry change. Afterhours he lectures the young industry aspirants in the Account Management and Advertising Foundation Courses.

Yasmine Gray, PRSquady

President Public Relations Institute Australia [Qld] ; Founder & Director Gray Media/PR Services.

With over 26 years experience in the industry, Yasmine is the director of leading Brisbane public relations and marketing company, Gray Media Services. Her understanding of the media is the foundation of her approach to PR. She started her career in London as a journalist working for some of Britain’s biggest newspapers before moving to Australia in 1989 and working for News Limited, Channel 9, Channel 10, Radio 3AW, and Woman’s Day to name but a few .

As a passionate advocate for the development of the industry, Yasmine is currently the President of the Public Relations Institute of Australia [Qld] and a regular speaker at both Bond University and QUT, mentoring many young practitioners. She is also a Certified Practising Marketer with the Australian Marketing Institute and has been instrumental in encouraging the integration of marketing and PR and continues to campaign to see these fields work more closely together for better result.

Eddy Odden, RetailSquady

Principal/Owner, Retail Marketing Communications [prev MD Retail Marketing M&C Saatchi Sydney; GM Marketing Franklins; MD Leo Burnett]; Fellow of the University of Queensland - in Retail Marketing Communications.

Closing in on 40 years industry experience, Eddy comes armed with a wealth of retail marketing and advertising experience: He came to Australia in 1984 to launch Pick&Pay Hypermarket. Thereafter in 1987, joined Leo Burnett to head up the Woolworths [Qld] account and was part of the original account management team to create and launch ’The Fresh Food People’ positioning campaign, and was then appointed MD of Leo Burnett [Qld] 1990.

In 1998 he went to Leo Burnett [Sydney] as GM Retail operations and national retail role for Woolworths, Dick Smith Electronics, Radio Rentals and MBF. He also launched Dick Smith’s first category killer store ’Dick Smith Powerhouse’ in Penrith in 2000.

In 2001 he joined Franklins Supermarkets as GM Marketing, and relaunched Franklins Supermarkets NSW under new management/ownership of Pick’n Pay Supermarkets, South Africa. Following that he was GM Retail marketing for M&C Saatchi Sydney, and MD/partner in Brisbane agency ‘The Partners etc’.

Nick Pritchard, DM;CRM & SponsorSquady

With 20 years experience, Nick has worked on the creative side as senior art director with most of the multinational agencies in Brisbane. Clients included Dreamworld, QR, Queensland Transport, Colorado, Suncorp and Tourism Queensland to name a few.

In 2003, he started his own agency Decoder and has grown the business to include 20 staff. He has brought Craft Queensland into the modern era, rebranding them Artisan. He helped in the massive shift of brand Comalco to Rio Tinto. And calling on his skills and experience in TV/film production, brand and design he created a world’s best Bid brand for Australia’s pitch for the World Championships in Athletics.

Being the ‘glue’ between Decoder clients and agency is what Nick loves most. Identifying what clients want and how Decoder can help them. Then making it happen. And when he’s not making ideas stick he’s sitting on the Artisan and Communify Boards; the ADMA Committee; or promoting DM for Australia Post. Apart from Sponsorship, his specialities include Direct Marketing, Brand creation, Integrated creative solutions, Creative Strategy and Event Management.

Greg Knagge, CreativeSquady

Director, Nation [prev joint Creative Director, Clemengers]; prev Board AWARD and AADC .

Greg has over 20 years experience in the Advertising Industry and is an award-winning Art Director, Writer and Creative Director.

Before leaving to establish NATION, he was Creative Director of Clemenger BBDO Adelaide for over 10 years. Greg is also a highly regarded strategic thinker and is responsible for Strategic Planning at NATION. Currently a Board Member of Adelaide Film Festival, Greg has also held Board positions at Clemenger BBDO, AWARD [Australian Writers and Art Directors Association] and and AADC [Adelaide Advertising and Design Club].

Throughout his career, Greg has worked on local, national and international brands including Yalumba Wines, Coopers, Jacob's Creek, SkyCity, MAC [Motor Accident Commission], Mitsubishi, Palmer's Cocoa Butter, Bank SA, SA Lotteries, Adelaide Bank, SGIC, Transitions Optical, SA Tourism, TAB, Vili's Pies and WorkCover.

He was also employed as Creative Director at KWP Advertising as well as working at Bottomline and SSB.

Dr Peter Hubbard, CD&PsychoSquady

Business and Marketing Consultant; prev Exec Creative Director various multi-national Agencies.

Peter’s history in Brisbane goes back some 25 years. He's an ex-writer based Executive Creative Director and has worked with McCanns, JWT, Ogilvy & Mather, SSB/Dentsu, and FCB Publicis to list just a few.

He has a wealth of international experience in advertising, specifically the psychology behind good copy, great ads, TV production, and direct marketing. He was one of the original AWARD School creators and hosts, and set the AWARD school up through out South East Asia.

More recently, Peter is involved in a lot of web-based performance-orientated communication work, and is a business consultant in the ICT / Communications / Systems / Creative area.

Aiden Bergs, SocialMediaSquady

A young and savvy marketer, Aiden is very in touch with the digital social media and trends of the 'now'. With a marketing; business and graphics tertiary education, Aiden understands the bigger marketing picture, and that social media is just one aspect of a broader mix. Being a natural leader, likeable and approachable person, Aiden is able to gather valuable marketing insights and trends from the world around him.

With 35 years rich advertising and media industry experience, Andrew not only works in Brisbane but consults to global companies in China, Japan, UAE, Germany, Philipines, South Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Andrew kicked off his media career with Channel 9 Brisbane in Programming in 1978. After 5 years, Andrew became Managing Director of Eloc Advertising & Marketing before spending 12 years as Media Director of Kelly Gee Advertising. In 1999, Andrew opend his own company A4Media, which successfully operatas to this day.

Rhonda McLaren, ResearchSquady

Rhonda’s 18 years of research experience encompass both the agency and client side of the industry. Client experience was gained working as Market Research Analyst and later Market Research Manager for Suncorp. Prior to recently launching her own research agency Proof Research, Rhonda successfully jointly owned and ran Footprints Market Research for 9 years.

Rhonda has extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative assessment working with government, private organisations and not-for-profits. She specialises in all aspects of stakeholder management studies, branding research, U&As and has a passion for social research. She is a full member of the Australian Market Research Society and is a Qualified Practicing Market Researcher (QPMR).

Debbie Cross, Producer&EventSquady

Debbie's worked as a TV Producer in the Brisbane Advertising market for the last 30 years. Her early production career began at George Patterson Advertising, followed by 17 years as Head of Production for Clemenger Advertising.

For the last 10 years, Debbie has focused her efforts on her own company called Debbie Does Pty Ltd - a visual project management company with a wide client base, managing a large range of projects in various industries, budgets and styles. Using her Advertising experience – Debbie’s role is to make her clients visual communication needs a reality. Whether it’s a television commercial, digital media production, photographic shoot or PR event. As part of servicing clients communication requirements, a natural progression for Debbie was to move also into events and conference management.

With over 30 years in the industry, Geoff is a true craftsman and has a remarkable track record for building long standing, trusted relationships with clients.

With over 25 years experience, Rocky Cassaniti is a veteran of the graphic arts industry providing companies with professional colour consistent solutions for digital, offset or large format printing and signage manufacture.
